Long Meg & Her Daughters

Long Meg & Her Daughters
This game was inspired by the folklore surrounding one of the Neolithic stone circles found in the lake district, Long Meg and Her Daughters is the name of England's third widest stone circle with a fascinating history of superstition and folklore.
In this solo journaling TTRPG you take on the role of Long Meg. The powerful “mother” of a coven of witches. You have foreseen that you and all your daughters will be turned to stone this very night. You haven’t told your daughters. Instead you have gathered all of your protections, your spells and your potion ingredients with the intention of fighting back the wizard fated to destroy you all for as long as possible. Instead of scaring your daughters you invited them to have one last, wild dance in the moonlight. Hopefully their dancing and chanting will empower your magical protections further.
The game uses a deck of cards as an oracle deck and drawing cards reveals prompts. The prompts invite the player to reminisce about Long Meg’s life, history and connections but also to invent and concoct magical ingredients that you have foraged and found. The cards are played somewhat like a game of clock patience. Somewhat reminiscent of the stone circle and the wearing down of your magical defences.
I hope you find Long Meg as inspiring as I do and I would adore to hear about anyone's experience playing the game.
